As someone who has lived in Lucknow for four decades and spent fifteen years teaching young minds, today’s news fills me with genuine pride and cautious optimism.
The monsoon’s arrival — though still running 52% below normal here in our city — brings welcome relief after weeks of punishing heat. As residents, we must stay alert to waterlogging in low-lying neighbourhoods, especially with IMD’s orange alert active today.
What truly excites me as an educator is the healthcare expansion underway. The RMLIMS getting liver transplant services, a Gamma Knife neurosurgery facility, and a brand new cancer institute allocated ₹315 crore in this year’s budget — these are not small announcements. For families across Lucknow who previously travelled to Delhi for specialised treatment, this is genuinely life-changing progress.
The Rapid Rail corridor connecting Lucknow, Unnao and Kanpur signals that our city is being thought of not just as a standalone capital but as the engine of a larger regional economy.
